kishkish
Text of this Question or Item
KISH indicates the sequence of the Kish grid for each case. A Kish grid is used to identify the chosen respondent based on the number of people living in the household - each digit corresponds to the chosen respondent if there are the digit's number of adults rostered in the home, based on age ordering (e.g. a kish number of 112345 would select the 1st adult rostered for 1 or 2 adults, the 2nd for 3 adults, the 3rd for 4 adults, the 4th for 5 adults, and the 5th for 6+ adults in the home). Prior to 2022, Kish grids were included on the paper copy of the household enumeration form, as a sticker applied to each copy. As of 2022, Kish grids are not displayed, but automatically consulted following age ordering to determine the selected respondent from the household roster.
