The 2016 Cooperative Congressional Election Study

ABSTRACT

The Cooperative Congressional Election Study, or CCES, seeks to study how Americans view Congress and hold their representatives accountable during elections, how they voted and their electoral experiences, and how their behavior and experiences vary with political geography and social context.

This study constructed a very large sample capable of capturing variation across a wide variety of legislative constituencies. In fact, the state-level samples are sufficiently large as to measure the distribution of voters' preferences within most states.
