Quick Tables Installation Information
Quick Tables provides a simplified user interface for generating
crosstabulations.
This page provides links and examples to assist in the installation
and configuration of the SDA Quick Tables application.
In addition, the SDA Archive Developer's Guide contains a number of
sections that are relevant to configuring and using Quick Tables.
See the section "A Note on Quick Tables" in the Guide's Introduction
for more information.
Note that in order to run Quick Tables, your server must be running a servlet
container or engine.
An open-source servlet container is
the widely-used
Apache Tomcat.
Select from the following links:
- View an example of a
Quick Tables application.
This example illustrates what a Quick Tables setup will look like
to the user.
- Read documentation about installing the Quick Tables application
on a server,
configuring Quick Tables for a dataset,
using "debug mode" to diagnose problems,
and creating your own SDA Datasets for Quick Tables.
- View an example of a
Quick Tables XML configuration file
like the ones that drive the example application.
(XML files are probably most easily viewed using a recent version of
Internet Explorer or Firefox.)
- The DTD for the XML configuration file -- which can be
copied to your own server and used for validation --
is available at
http://sda.berkeley.edu/info/sdaconfig.dtd.
- Some new Quick Tables options will be added to SDA 3.5.
Information on these changes -- and how to upgrade your current
Quick Tables installation -- is available at
http://sda.berkeley.edu/info/quicktables/update35.html.
Quick Tables was a joint
project of SDA
at UC Berkeley
and ICPSR
at the University of Michigan.
